Designed and manufactured in the UK, our reels offer the highest performance of any Centrepin reel currently available to anglers, anywhere in the world.
In a recent and rigorous comparison test carried out by one of the UK’s most authoritative angling publications, the 450 model Kingpin reels achieved by far the longest free spin time while maintaining "incredible" sensitivity and startup.
The Kingpin’s bearing assembly is sealed to prevent the ingress of any dirt, and removes the need for regular cleaning; the smooth, positive ratchet (in easy finger reach), is neatly rounded to avoid line tangle. The tight tolerance between the back plate and spool ensures that the line cannot become trapped, and the precision spool helps to ensure precise, direct control of the float.
Kingpin reels are constructed to the very highest standards by their parent company KW Engineering, a well respected Aerospace Engineering company with over 25 years of serving major corporations in Aerospace, Aviation and Defence.

All Kingpins are precisely machined to the highest tolerance from high quality anodized aluminum and solid brass components, with high precision, oiled stainless steel ABEC 5 bearings. The Kingpin’s precision-ground stainless steel bearing shaft (Centrepin) – the heart of every Kingpin reel – is machined and assembled to exacting tolerances, and is the secret of its effortless, free-spinning performance. The heavy duty lever-operated ratchet mechanism is fully sealed, and the complete spool assembly can be removed for cleaning and interchangeability as required.
To put it simply, Kingpins are ideal for float and/or coarse fishing where they attract an enthusiastic following due to the unsurpassed free-running performance and sensitivity. They are particularly suitable for use in trotting and ledgering, as well as providing the user with an almost intuitive ability to control the float downstream.
With a high quality Kingpin reel the line peels easily from the spool, allowing the float to run downstream virtually unhindered. To slow the float down at any time or hold it back against the flow, you need only apply the slightest amount of finger pressure on the spool. Kingpins are precision, quality, control and sensitivity in your hand.
