We would like to share with you our plans for 2022

We are going to streamline the reel sizes we offer from 5 to 3;

  1. 4 1/4" (425)

  2. 4 3/4" (475)

  3. 5" (500)

The Imperial 575 will be discontinued. We still have limited stock, but that stock will not be replenished once sold.

The R2-525/R2-475 will be replaced by a new R2 size - R2-500. The R2-500 will come with a crown screw and tool as standard at a cost of $650.

These changes will allow us to focus on our most popular reels and better serve our customers!

Kinetic 500 now available

The Kinetic is now available for international free shipping through our online store for the amazing price of $299USD. This reel is 100% made in England to the same exacting standards as you’ve come to expect from all kingpin products.

The Kinetic comes in all Black & Grey/Black two tone. Both the spool and backplate hard defense standard hard-coat anodised courtesy of our local treatments house who include customers such as McLaren F1 & BAE systems to name just a few. The best finish you will find on any reel, hands down.

Couple the above with other standard features such as ABEC5 marine grade German bearings and tolerances unrivaled within the industry, you really will not get a better reel for your money.

All in the detail

When you buy a reel you may or may not give much thought to some of the smaller parts that make up the reel, especially some of the parts that are out of sight out of mind. These parts can be very intricate as they have to carry out certain functions and be constrained in terms of size so everything becomes smaller and precise. A good example of this is the Phosphor Bronze housing we make to hold the ratchet spring system in place. Small and precise and made with a exotic material which is relatively expensive and unique to machine.

Project Zero


Project 0 (Zero) - a reel that resembles a zero in its construction hence the name. Massive (4 1/2 diameter) bearings that sit directly under the line giving a completely different feel and performance to any float reel you've used before. Currently under prototype construction. This reel may or may not ever make it into production but there will be a couple of prototype available at the very least. It'll be worth the R&D purely for the next projects value.

Project 00 (Double Zero) - 2 rings held together by 4 bearings, 2 large 4 1/2" bearings and 2 standard miniature kingpin bearings used in our Zodiac. Two points of rotation one under the line diameter and one at the current point of rotation around the spindle. These two points of rotation are linked in the sense that they both have a fundamental job to play in the way the reel operates and are not there for cosmetic purposes in anyway (although I plan on making the reel look good as well)

Whilst these projects are still in their infancy stages we’ve decided to release the info now and share the development so you all can appreciate the amount of work that goes into getting a project from idea to production. It would be nice to have you all share you thoughts and ideas along the way to see if we can get these unique reels from design to production. As far as I am aware nothing like this has been done before with a reel so it really is hit and miss if they will ever make it to production but it's gotta be worth a shot.
